Importance of Montessori Material

Language Materials

When children acquire language, it makes for future learning and makes up a large portion of the materials found in our Montessori classroom. Children start their language journey by hearing others read to them, which also helps develop the agility and strength needed to learn to write.

Math Materials

Our Montessori students interact with math manipulative, which helps children learn what numbers are and how they interact with each other. There are many different math materials, but our common ones can be seen through bead frames, bead chains or arithmetic boards. The arithmetic boards are like charts that show the relationships between numbers and mathematic operations.

Sensory Materials

Are central to vital education to understand and characterize sensory input. Sensory materials in the early years are used to teach children the basic sensations (of feeling) and vocabulary (to describe emotions). Sensorial materials are the hallmark of our Montessori education and are crucial in developing the child’s senses, curiosity, and independence. As well they learn the fine motor skills to coordinate using their small fingers and hands.
