In Montessori education there is a dynamic relationship between the child and the educator which is further supported by the learning environment. The child is in charge of their own learning making it different from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. The materials are curated to help each child to work through at their own pace and once mastered the teacher will advance them to the next level. Montessori materials are essential as they provide hands-on learning tools that give the children opportunities to discover key learning outcomes. Each material teaches one skill at a time and is designed to support independent learning and problem-solving. For example, a few materials used in our Montessori classrooms include language, math, and sensory materials.
